The PTO Update

PTO

April 10th, 2022

Upcoming PTO Events

Wed., Apr. 13th, 8:30-9:30: Open PTO Meeting

Here at ASH we don't have a closed, members-only PTO. Ours is a come-one, come-all, open-door, more-the-merrier PTO. Anyone and everyone who participates, volunteers, and helps out even in small ways is part of the PTO, and we want you to be included. Join us Wednesday after drop-off in the UE Atrium to discuss what the PTO has planned for the rest of the year including Teacher Appreciation and the Spring Bazaar. As always, coffee will be provided!

See you there!

Mon., May 2nd, 9:00: MMN Field Trip to Kasteel Duivenvoorde

Don't miss this beautiful medieval castle right in your backyard! Dating back to the 1200's, this lovely building was the noble home of the Van Wassenaer family (you may have heard the name :-p ). This outing will included a guided tour through the castle's numerous historical rooms, complete with furnishings and artifacts. Tea and treats will also be provided. Tickets are €15 and limited, so hurry to buy yours today. This site is cycling distance from town, or a very short drive.

Community Events

Every Monday, 18:30-20:00: Adult Volleyball

Your kids don't need to be the only ones playing sports and having fun! If you enjoy a friendly game of volleyball, but also don't mind letting your competitive streak shine, come out and join the Coed Adult League (both women and men). Games are held in the ASH Main Gym every Monday evening that school is in session.

Yoga Lessons in Wassenaar

Treat yourself with a gift of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health by signing up for YOGA! Experienced yoga instructor Roza Trajcevska Verheijden is offering Covid-safe private lessons for individuals or small groups (max 3) at her home studio located conveniently near ASH. The schedule is flexible, so feel free to contact her with your interest. Roza also offers CHILDREN'S YOGA on Saturday mornings for groups of up to 6 children. Call or text today at 06-42-63-5252!

What to do on the Weekend?

View the Tulips!

As long as we don't have any more freak snow storms, spring is in swing here in the Netherlands, and in case you're late to the party, that means the tulips are out! And we are extra lucky, because right here in Zuid Holland is the tulip growing region, surrounding the villages of Lisse, Sassenheim, and Voorhout. Sure, you can buy tickets to Keukenhof, the eye-popping tulip-centric botanical garden. Or, see the tulip crops in their natural habitat. The way it's done? Drive around the rural roads until you see a red, pink, yellow, purple, or other fantastically colored field; pull your car over; hop out and snap away with your camera. You can pose your kiddos on the edges of the fields, but be sure not to step among the tulips--these are private crops on family farms. The album of your life in the Netherlands won't be complete without a good set of flower photos!
